What about the rest of Linn County?

Particularly the parts north of County Home Road, that is.

The county is holding the first of its open houses on where to put county offices tonight at 7 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Middle School, 525 Palisades Rd., Mount Vernon.

But a couple people have griped to me that none of the five public forums on the topic are anywhere north of Marion, forcing people in Prairieburg, Coggon, Central City, Troy Mills, Walkker and Center Point to drive down to the metro area one of these evenings. They could go to Marion on Wednesday night, or Hiawatha on Thursday night.

Is this unfair? Should Coggon get its own open house? Leave a comment and tell me what you think.

I was deeply surprised that one of the meetings wasn't scheduled in Central City or Center Point.

You are there to be taxed and nothing more. Your taxes are for the greater glory of downtown Cedar Rapids. The same interests running Cedar Rapids have their agents on the Board of Supervisors. The County Supervisor districts had to be drawn so two of their femme fatales would not share one district.
    Enjoy the show.

It must be very annoying to live 'up north' and put up with the City/County cabal_____welcome to the club. Take a fairly central location in the counties' north end and have a meeting. Not rocket science.

It would be nice to have a meeting in Center Point, where it would be easier for people from Walker to attend, and one in Central City.

Didn't one of the supervisors complain it was too far to drive to get to Westdale mall from his house each day? And you expect them to go 15 miles or so to go to Center Point. Sheesh that is like your asking him to drive across country for a meeting. He would want mileage added on too.
