Cornell plans Ash Park improvements

Posted on Oct 10, 2009 by Jeff Johnson.

Cornell College will announce possibly in the next month its official plans to refurbish pastoral Ash Park, it has been learned.

The school plans to install MondoTurf, the same surface installed over the summer in the UNI-Dome. It also plans to tear down the bleachers and press box on the home side of the stadium and construct new bleachers and a press box.

Lights also will be installed, as will a new purple track around the field.

The school has had discussions with Mount Vernon High School about using Ash Park as its home field for football games. Lisbon High School also has expressed interest in using the refurbished stadium.

The school plans on announcing a major donor to the stadium project soon.
