Our favorite homegrown band, Aeroroot, will perform in Cedar Rapids at a send-off show to prepare for their upcoming contest in Cleveland.
The band, made up of members from Frontier Natural Products Co-op in Norway, Iowa, will play at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Third Street Saloon, upstairs from the Chrome Horse at 1202 Third St. SE. The show is free.
Aeroroot will be in the the finals of the 9th Annual FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on Oct. 3.
The group earned the spot after competing in the semi-finals in California this summer.
Lead guitarist Brett Karminski, Frontier’s brand manager, said Z102.9 called and asked the band would like them to coordinate a “sending off” concert event. “Of course, we were honored and said yes!” Brett said the group probably open the gig with the set they will be playing in Cleveland, just to get more practice in for the real thing.
