Happy Halloween

Posted on Oct 30, 2009 by Nick Pugliese.

It’s been a while since I blogged, which is the cardinal sin of this online venture. But after a week of flying to Tampa, packing up our house in Riverview, FL, driving 1,300 miles to Cedar Rapids (with a 7- and 4-year-old and one whining cat who refused to take his meds) and unpacking our stuff (we’re about halfway there), we are in our rental house in Robins and now officially Iowans.

My daughters will be attending St. Joseph’s Elementary School in Marion and their first day was one to remember as there was a Halloween parade and they got to wear their Snow White and Dorothy (of the Wizard of Oz) costumes. They will be  Trick or Treating Saturday and, instead of sweating, they will have to wear jackets and sweaters for the first time on that holiday. The new neighbors are scaring my wife and daughters with tales of the bitter cold and snow, but I think it’s all a myth.

Meanwhile, on Saturday morning, I will be part of our Gazette Online weekly Live Chat on Iowa football, along with Marc  Morehouse, Mike Hlas and Scott Dochterman. Let’s hope the Hawkeyes get more than a rock (see Charlie Brown) for Halloween and remain undefeated and in position to play in the Rose Bowl or — dare we say it — national championship.

Boo.

Good to have you back. We missed the column. Enjoy your first cold Halloween with the kids. We are in Florida and we were sweating again this year.

The neighbors are not lying! LOL My first winter in Iowa(83-84) wind chills were 80 below at times. They will not be that low this winter–they changed the wind chill calculation!! LOL

As to Iowa and Florida in the BCS national title game–Iowa does not want a piece of that one! Remember 2006–41-14 Gators over OSU–this one would be worse!!! The Gators would probably score 50 and Stanzi might get picked 7 or 8!!! LOL

Welcome to Iowa! You will enjoy your time here–it is a great place to raise a family!
