Recount requested in West Delaware school board election

Posted on Sep 14, 2009 by admin.

Toni Guetzko Browning, who lost by nine votes to incumbent Elwyn Curtis in last week’s election for West Delaware schools’ District 1 school board seat, has requested a recount.

The recount will be at 9 a.m. Friday in the conference room on the lower level of the Delaware County Courthouse, according to Auditor Carla Becker.

Becker said Friday’s canvass by the Board of Supervisors did not change the initial vote tally, which showed Curtis prevailing by nine votes, 485 to 476.

The three-member recount panel will consist of a representative selected by each of the candidates and a third member agreed upon by the two selected representatives, Becker said.
