Car rolls into cornfield near Swisher; driver not seriously hurt

The driver of a car that rolled into a corn field along Highway 965 this morning escaped serious injury.

It happened around 7 a.m. near the intersection of Tharp Road. The driver, 18-year-old Danielle Jasa-Adams, of Cedar Rapids, was was southbound when she fell asleep, authorities said.

“She fell asleep, woke up and over-corrected,” Iowa State Patrol Trooper Craig Bixler said.

The car rolled through the east ditch before coming to rest on its top in a corn field.

Jasa-Adams was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for precautionary reasons, Bixler said.

    ROLLOVER accident at Edgewood road and Johnson Ave. One person trapped part way under vehicle. Happened aprox 15 min ago

      Update. Victim is ok. Only a arm was trapped under the vehicle. Victim is talking with medical personal. Still trying to get the vehicle off victims arm.
