Jason Harriman of rural Traer is back in jail on charges he tried to kill his ex-wife after he tried to buy a gun, the sheriff’s office said.

Harriman, 35, was charged with first-degree burglary, attempted murder, willful injury, and bring a felon in possession of a firearm after a Sept. 27 incident involving his former wife.

Freed after posting $100,000 bond, Harriman was arrested Sunday at his home after he tried to buy a semi-automatic handgun from an undercover officer, according to the Tama County Sheriff’s Office.

Harriman’s bail on the original charges was revoked and raised to $200,000. Bail on a new, additional count of receiving, transporting, or possessing a firearm as a felon was set at $50,000 cash

Harriman remained in the Tama County Jail Wednesday.

His ex-wife must be terrified, and I hope he stays locked up, for her sake.
