Two hurt when car hits unmarked Linn County squad car

policenightTwo people were taken to hospitals after a car rear-ended an unmarked squad car belonging to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.

Col. John Stuelke, 48, was stopped on Lewis Access Road and preparing to turn west onto Rosedale Drive when his squad car was struck from behind by a car driven by Samantha Stark, 19, of Center Point, the sheriff’s office said.

Stuelke was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids and Stark was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, authorities said.

The accident is being investigated by the Iowa State Patrol.

    I'll take that action and raise you — someone will come on here and say that if the Sherriff's car was marked it wouldn't have been hit becuase the drive would have been more careful around it.

    How can somebody not see a parked vehicle and run into it!? It amazes me how many incompetent drivers there are in this state!
