Iowa’s death toll from H1N1 flu rises to 14

Posted on Nov 07, 2009 by Admin.

Three more Iowans have died of H1N1 flu complications, the Iowa Department of Public Health reported Friday.

The victims were identified as two adults in Polk County and one adult in Woodbury County.

Two of the three had known risk factors for complications.

The latest deaths brings the state total to 14, which includes one child in Eastern Iowa.

Department Medical Director, Dr. Patricia Quinlisk, said surveillance is showing an increase in adult illness.

More vaccine is expected to become available in Iowa in coming weeks, so priority groups will continue to expand to include adults with medical conditions that put them at high risk for complications and death, she said.

“Meanwhile, it’s important for all Iowans to continue to take personal action to prevent the spread of illness,” Quinlisk said.

Steps include cleaning hands frequently; covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or into a sleeve; and containing germs by staying home when ill.

Symptoms of H1N1 are similar to seasonal flu and include a fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people with H1N1 flu also have diarrhea and vomiting.

I take Oil of Oregano every day and haven't even had a cold in four years. Oil of Oregano is one of the most powerful infection fighting natural therapies on the face of the earth! I keep it in the refrigerator and a good brand doesn't get thick when kept in the refrigerator!

There was a H1N1 clinic at Hawkeye Downs on Friday, 11-6-09. It was first come first serve and at the end of the day I heard that only about a third of the vaccines that were on hand were given out. Apparently no shortages here in Iowa.

Not enough vaccine? Well just thank your Republican representatives in congress for dragging their feet on the funding this past June. The Democratic votes were there…. The repubs however want to return to leeches and grandma's potions to ward off what ails you.

IT"S TRUE! NO SHORTAGE OF NASAL VACCINES IN LINN COUNTY!
The Linn County Heath department was pressured to make a big showing, dirrected by higher govermental officials. The health department was disappointed by the turn out at Hawkeye Downs, over staffed and wasting tax dollars.
Maybe healthy people just look it as another virus in flu season, like myself.
Head down to the heath departmnent and get one if you are concerned.
KEEP IN MIND these current deaths in Iowa are related to people with compromised immune systems, a virus being the straw that broke the camels back".

14 H1N1 deaths, how many from "normal" flu? I bet it's a lot more than 14, but that doesn't make headlines, does it?
