Cedar County seeks Highway 30 rock-throwing suspects

Posted on Nov 12, 2009 by admin.

Cedar County officials still don’t have any leads in searching for whoever’s responsible for throwing large rocks at semi-trailer trucks along Highway 30 near Lisbon Wednesday night.

The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office says suspects in a car were throwing large rocks at semis on the highway. One rock even broke out the front window of one of the semis.

We’ll let you know when authorities release more information.

Lisbon is mostly in Linn County, and has a few police officers of their own. Are Linn County Sheriff's Dept, Lisbon PD, or the Iowa State Patrol helping out, too?

I h8te to think what would have happened if they had caused a semi to lose control, cross the center line, and take out a line of cars full of innocent people.

Are you implying that the semi-driver would not be innocent in that situation? I believe he would be and innocent victim also. Or is delivering the goods we all use a crime?

No. I'm not implying that at all. Are you implying that I'm a criminal? Or am I reading something that isn't there?

I am not implying that. I misread your comment and intent. I am a little sensitive to comments about truckers. My husand drive truck and so many times they are made out to be the villian in wrecks even if the fault is not theirs. I apologize if you took offense.

Hopefully those responsible will be found soon. This is not a prank, it cost lives!

Depends on the time of night, we are going through a meteor showers right now. I seen one last night low on the horizon that look big to me, would do some nice damage to something. Maybe one of the large trucks in front of them, was letting off rocks and grains from their trucks. I cringe every time I get behind a large semi, gravel and cement trucks.
