Trial starts today in Marshall County double murder

The trial of a West Des Moines man accused of killing his wife and another man in Marshall County last fall is scheduled to begin today.

Police say Kyle Deemer, 29, gunned down Jessica Deemer, his wife he was separated from, and Bryce Mercer, of West Des Moines and formerly of Gladbrook, on Oct. 17, 2008. Their bodies were found Oct. 18 near a ditch along Highway 14 in central Iowa.

Kyle Deemer’s trial is slated to start on Monday in Humboldt County District Court in Dakota City, where it was moved because of pretrial publicity.
