The Williamsburg High School Choirs and Community Singers will present "Christmas in Williamsburg", a Grand Concert on December 6^th at the W.H.S. Gymnasium. There will be two performances starting at 3:00, and 5:30 p.m.

The High School Choirs and Community Singers will combine to perform, "A Festival of Lessons and Carols", with orchestra. This work, rich in holiday splendor, is a stirring presentation of the Christmas story in readings and carols. The combined choirs will feature over 200 singers with a 35 piece orchestra.

Visit a beautifully restored Illinois Central Railroad passenger depot located in Independence, Iowa. 75 small trees are decorated for the holidays along with approximately 10 specialty items. This is also a 4week silent auction fundraiser for Buchanan County Tourism Bureau. Buchanan County Tourism is an all-volunteer organization supporting and promoting the varied cultural, scenic, and historical opportunities in the county. No admission, but a food item donation for the local Food Pantry is asked. Saturdays and Sundays Nov 7th through Sunday, December 6th.

UI Symphony and Choirs perform Mendelssohn's 'Hymn of Praise' Dec. 2

The University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra and Choirs, conducted by Timothy Stalter, will celebrate the 200th birthday of Felix Mendelssohn's birth with a free performance of his Symphony No. 2, Op. 52 -- 'Lobgesang' (Hymn of Praise) -- at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union.

The Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) received a shipment of seasonal flu shots. As a result, they will hold a seasonal flu shot clinic on Tuesday, December 1 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Lindale Mall in the food court area.

*Women in IT (Information Technology) Careers: Where Have They All Gone?*

The number of women in the information technology (IT) workforce continues to decline at a time when the demand for IT workers is increasing at an enormous pace. With over 1 million new jobs in high-tech industries expected to be added by 2014, organizations must recognize and legitimize women in IT fields and "change the game" to keep and attract women professionals.

Join "News Talk" for a discussion led by Marilyn Drury, Director of ITS Educational Technology at UNI, of possible elements and issues related to the decline of women IT professionals and to share ideas on methods of attracting and retaining women in information technology.

Event is Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10:30-11:30 at University Book and Supply.
