Jury selection continues today in the rape and burglary trial of Bruce Braggs in Linn County District Court.

The selection process didn’t start until late morning on Monday because the attorneys and the judge had to address several motions before the trial and the judge decided to conduct some individual questioning of the jury panel.

Braggs, charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree sexual abuse, is accused of breaking into an apartment and sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman.

The individual interviews were to determine how much jurors had heard about the case and if they thought they could be fair and impartial.

Opening statements may start late this morning or early afternoon.

Reporter Trish Mehaffey will liveblog once testimony begins.
