Posted on Oct 19, 2009 by Steve Gravelle.
Young patients at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital will have a new video game system to help pass the time thanks to UI students and friends.
The UI facility was one of three nationwide to win a gameroom makeover through the annual Gameroom Giveaway, organized by the Children’s Miracle Network and sponsored by video game manufacturer Xbox 360.
Supporters cast online votes for their favorite facility to win new gaming systems for their patients. More than 12 million online votes were cast during the contest’s six-week run, according to the Children’s Miracle Network.
The other facilities winning new game systems are the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Mich.
