Comments on: Security officers suing Per Mar for regular pay, OT

I first would like to comment on the Per Mar company as a whole. I have worked for the company in the past and found it to be an excellent company to work for and found that the management to be one of the finest I have seen. As far as the reader who stated” security guard jobs are the last refuge for the unemployable. i read that it’s also the one job most serial killers have had at one time or another… it just attracts a strange breed of people.” I am offended as I am a Security officer and a retired law enforcement officer as well as many of the others I work with. There are also college kids that also work their way thru collage being a Security officer as well as retired school teachers. These young men who are asking to be paid to keep their uniforms clean leads me to believe keeping clean must be an extra effort in their life and also will want to be paid to take a shower before work as well. I want to make it clear that I’m not employed by Per Mar but find them to be an outstanding company, as far as the BOZO who states “security guard jobs are the last refuge for the unemployable” as a Security manager for a large company I willing to compare my income to yours any day.

Not just there, I know of one other company that makes people come in earlier. What I don't understand is why the Dept. of Labor does nothing about it, despite complaints.

anyway, maybe i should file a lawsuit because my employers makes me get up in the morning,shower ,dress and drive to their location without paying me…. welcome to the real world boys, please feel free to improve your skill set and get into a different line of work.

Sounds like they are trying to nickle and diime the company for petty items! The only one I see reasonable is them staying after their shift…but they should not have clocked out until they were done. The dress code policy is too funny! I wish I'd get paid for all the ironing, washing and buffing for my husbands work clothes and boots! That's just silly to ask for pay for that! My husband routinely gets to work 15 minutes early so he can get his paperwork in order and things required for the day…and doesn't put that time on his timecard, neither do the other guys.
