Sixth Judicial District Senior Judge David Remley will receive the 2009 Judicial Achievement Award today from the Iowa Association for Justice during the association’s annual convention.

The award is given to an individual who has a established reputation as an outstanding jurist and who has shown a concern for the protection of the rights of litigants, and has demonstrated untiring efforts to promote the interests of justice and human rights.

“Judge Remley is widely respected for never losing the work ethic and quiet decency he first demonstrated as a Main Street lawyer in Anamosa,” President Tim Semelroth said. “He is a true public servant.”

Remley retired this year as chief judge for the 6th District but remains on the bench as a senior judge.

The award has been presented each year since 1985. Last year, Senior Judge Thomas Koehler was the recipient.

too bad they don't hand out these awards based on just following the constitution….. then again if they did that , they probably wouldn't have many winners.
