An Iowa soldier wounded in last week’s deadly shooting at Fort Hood in Texas is to have surgery.

Twenty-seven-year-old Staff Sgt. Joy Clark, of Des Moines, was shot in her left forearm in the rampage last Thursday that left 13 dead and 29 others injured. The accused gunman, an Army psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was also shot and survived.

Clark’s surgery is scheduled for Monday. She arrived in Fort Hood last Tuesday for additional training before being deployed overseas.

Clark, in a copyright story in the Des Moines Sunday Register, says she expected to face fire in Iraq or Afghanistan, but never at home.

Clark is an occupational therapist’s assistant. Her specialty is helping people with hand injuries.

  1. Get well….Prayers are with you.
    .
    On another note:
I find it disgusting and criminal how the Army cow-tows to the Muslims and how the warnings about this psycho Islamic wank went unheeded and ignored to fullest.
" Now, now…..We dont want to upset the Muslims now do we?"…" We cant ask or investigate any potential inside threats…or it will seem like bias"

    One huge FAIL

ABSOLUTELY! being a career soldier I am more disappointed in our liberal approach to everything anymore. We do not want to offend anyone, we cannot question this person or that person because we may infringe on their beliefs or rights. Let's wait until they carry out something like this then we can say "wow I never saw that coming"

      • Sen Joe Lieberman is on the right track.
Let's hope he has some teeth and investigates this fiasco.
Someone needs to answer for this.
On the other hand…I predict a cover up and mealy mouthed official statements.
They'll be plenty of " It's a religion of peace!!"…. and other drivel to match.

Dostoevsky, you are absolutelyl correct! I'm tired of Muslims too and people who try to stick up for them. I say NO MUSLIMS at all in the military until they all go through strict individual background checks. I wouldn't trust any of them.

Prplehaze, I agree that the liberal approach just isn't working.
