How can UI afford new vice presidential hire?

Posted on Nov 10, 2009 by Jennifer Hemmingsen.

Please ask the state Board of Regents why University of Iowa President Sally Mason can hire another new $200,000-plus vice president while forcing academic and medical departments to lay off staff, freeze hiring and possibly reduce retirement benefits.

Previous presidents functioned without the new VP positions at these high salaries.

They will tell you that the money comes from a different budget of theirs. The people that are getting laid off, their money comes from a different budget line.

University's are run by liberals so what they do is OK. The cost of education out-strips inflation year after year. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize the University structure is bloated.
